One month in, stout ice cream still excites

Thanks to CHS for the heads-up - a local foodie has posted a fantastic summary of what Bluebird has to offer and reviews our signature flavor, the Elysian stout. Take it away, Ellie May:
"Like Molly Moon’s, Bluebird’s ice cream is made using primarily local and organic ingredients, and they offer uncommon flavors (stout, snickerdoodle, and peanut butter) alongside more mainstream varieties (strawberry, chocolate, etc.) There doesn’t appear to be too much overlap between the flavors at Molly Moon’s and the flavors at Bluebird which means that I’ll be able to go the entire summer without repeating an ice cream...

Dragonstooth is a slightly sweet oatmeal stout, and it works incredibly well as an ice cream flavor. Hints of chocolate, molasses, coffee and roasted malts are all present, and the ice cream finishes with a slight bitterness."

Thanks, Ellie!

New & Noteworthy

Haven't been to our Yelp page? It's worth a look. Yelp included us in their weekly subscriber email, titled "New & Noteworthy on Capitol Hill." Here's what they told their faithful:
Think you've had enough? Think again. Continue your Cap Hill bender at Bluebird by indulging in Elysian Stout or Snickerdoodle ice cream. Upon finishing her bowl of the latter, Jen L was left "contemplating two things: one, licking the bowl; and two, going for a second scoop after work!"
And that's not even the best review of the lot! Go see why we have a 4-star average rating.

Seattle Weekly loves our coffee ice cream

We've said a lot about our stout, and you heard NPR rave about our chocolate pudding, but each of our flavors is something to experience. This week, our coffee ice cream catches the press's eyes and tongues. Here's what Seattle Weekly had to say:

Its scoop, walnut-hued compared to the cookies-and-cream appearance of its competitor, hits you with the same just-brewed aroma when you put spoon to mouth. But then, it segues into a more mellow, caramelly, classic coffee flavor. Not only is the flavor richer, but the ice cream has a richer mouthfeel, too, creamier, thicker.

We're open till 11PM (12 on weekends), so come by our shop on 12th and Pike to taste for yourself.
